Can anyone tell me the how the steel differs on the Schrade + USA blade versus
Schrade USA, and is there a difference between Schrade + USA and Schrade + USA LTD. Thanks very much. I have purchase a couple of Schardes that are marked LTD on the Blade. Both of them are very nice but they never have any number designating which model of knife it is. One has dark wood scales and the other has cobalt blue scales which look like bone but they might be delrin. Thanks very much.

I'm not the expert but from what I know:

Schrade+ is the designation for stainless steel, it may be either 440A (older knives) or 420HC (newer knives), older knives in 440A may be marked "Stainless", knives just marked "Schrade" are usually 1095 carbon steel, though if they are newer knives they may be 420HC stainless.

"LTD" was used instead of a model number in limited editions or special knives.

xbxb... Luis got your steel question exactly right. He's retired, has plenty of time to study these things!

I have a couple of the blue handled schrades, a small stockman and a PH2. Both are bone. I did some digging and it seems that Schrade was making a run at Lowes (the home improvement big box store) to get Case's blue bone business (carried exclusively at Lowes). Sadly, just like the move Schrade was making to get become the official maker of Ruger firearms knives, they went out of business before either effort could pay off. Still, they are beautiful knives.

Yes, the benefits of retirement, as has become my habit I'll take the chance to post Off Topic...

Last week we were invited to a wedding in a small town south of Cuernavaca and being retired I decided to spend a few days over there, here I am with my younger daughter (holding the baby) and some nieces and nephews (ages from 5 weeks to 9 years), just outside the church after the ceremony, standing in front of the old broken bell from 1856.

Forum and thread content: my Schrade 34OT was in my pocket, it is 420HC but not marked "Schrade+".
