I was at my father's house today and just happened to look behind an old book shelf. Behind the book shelf was a display case with 14 Schrade knives with a label on front of the case that said "Thirteen Colonies Series." There are actually 14 knives inside the case. A large bowie style folder with stag handles is centered in the display. The blade has a scroll with all thirteen original colonies on the blade. The handle is very nice stag. In a circle around the middle knife are 13 Schrade knives with metal handles. Each knife has a different handle with each representing one of the thirteen colonies. The tang stamps are "Schrade", "Limited Edition" "USA" and TC-1 through TC-13. The thirteen surrounding knives also have "Limited Edition 1/3000" on at least one of the blades. Each knife also has 1786 on the handle. I'm assuming the "TC" tang stamps represent the series and the 1786 is serial number of the set. I took some pictures I'll post later.

I was thrilled to make a discovery like this at my father's house. I've only been there several hundred times so finding something like this wasn't expected. Anyone know anything about this series?

morrowj,
That was a set put out by Parker (and made by Schrade) in 1976. The stag clasp knife is a beautiful piece quite popular with collectors. Nice discovery!

here are the pics....

my father is so funny....he knows i have a knife addiction and he asked if i wanted to take this set with me. i thanked him but declined and asked that he hang it in more visible location. Sorry for the crappy pics....I didn't have my camera and the light was terrible.
