Alright I've been carrying this Schrade Tennessee River Trapper for about 2 weeks, it replaced a Spyderco Mini Dyad.
I still can't keep my hands off this knife, the long thin hollow ground SS blades cut through everything like butter, I peeled a friggin' grape with it
, it slices fruit and veggies like my NagyPaPas(Hungarian for Grandfathers) knife used to.
The amber jigged bone scales are warm to the touch, the nickle silver bolsters are smooth and hold up well to the other junk in my pockets.
And since it sits in my pocket and not on it, I've become better acquainted with the contents of my pocket, there's some neat stuff in there,(shopping list from my wife(I told her she never gave it to me) a bill for the cable company,(for last month), at least 4 illegible receipts, $26 I didn't know I had, and the missing spare house key).
It's distinctive shape is unmistakable in my pocket and you know what, the fact that it takes me 3.5 seconds and two hands rather than .89 seconds and one hand to open it really doesn't make that big of a difference.
Something else that's an added bonus, sheeple actually ask to look at it, handle it, and use it.
I get comments like, "My Pop Pop had one like that" or," My Dad used to carry something like that", a hell of a lot better than "Who ya gonna kill with that thing?" or "Is that thing legal?"
All in all I'll probably never give up my Spyderco Micarta Calypso, my Gerber CF SL 3.25, or my custom Pat Crawford, but since I've added the Trapper into my EDC rotation I've noticed a Buck pearl handled Stockman has also showed up as part of my now traditional folder EDC choices.
