Schrade Trapper competing for pocket space.

Alright I've been carrying this Schrade Tennessee River Trapper for about 2 weeks, it replaced a Spyderco Mini Dyad.

I still can't keep my hands off this knife, the long thin hollow ground SS blades cut through everything like butter, I peeled a friggin' grape with it , it slices fruit and veggies like my NagyPaPas(Hungarian for Grandfathers) knife used to.

The amber jigged bone scales are warm to the touch, the nickle silver bolsters are smooth and hold up well to the other junk in my pockets.

And since it sits in my pocket and not on it, I've become better acquainted with the contents of my pocket, there's some neat stuff in there,(shopping list from my wife(I told her she never gave it to me) a bill for the cable company,(for last month), at least 4 illegible receipts, $26 I didn't know I had, and the missing spare house key).

It's distinctive shape is unmistakable in my pocket and you know what, the fact that it takes me 3.5 seconds and two hands rather than .89 seconds and one hand to open it really doesn't make that big of a difference.

Something else that's an added bonus, sheeple actually ask to look at it, handle it, and use it.

I get comments like, "My Pop Pop had one like that" or," My Dad used to carry something like that", a hell of a lot better than "Who ya gonna kill with that thing?" or "Is that thing legal?"

All in all I'll probably never give up my Spyderco Micarta Calypso, my Gerber CF SL 3.25, or my custom Pat Crawford, but since I've added the Trapper into my EDC rotation I've noticed a Buck pearl handled Stockman has also showed up as part of my now traditional folder EDC choices.

That is a great knife. Just wish I would have bought a second when they were still available. Mine dosen't see much pocket time, but it lives by my chair at home, so it does see use.

I like mine alot too. I was thinking about mine at work today, probley will drop it in my pocket in the morning. By the way I used mine to skin a couple of catfish, worked great.

Thanks to OTguy Im going to get one!!! (Thanks Brian!!!!)!!!! Especially with all this talk about how you guys like these knives!!! :D :D :D

Rev I'm happy for ya, you'll enjoy this knife.

Let us know what ya think when ya get it.

I have a similar model - 657 Cigar box classic. I believe the size and blades are the same as the Tennessee River Trapper but the scales are different and the 657 has a shield.

I haven't carried it but I've done some kitchen work. These full sized trappers seem to be very good all purpose knives, probably the most versatile slip joints around since they can tackle both big and small jobs.

Nice knife! I couldn't find one at my local wallyworld, but I DID get 2 more UH Senior ranchers and a Junior stockman (MAN that is small). Gotta get these before they start getting replaced by the NEW schrade chinese crap :barf: !
Wish I would have been able to get one of these, though.

Sincerely,
Anthony

we have 6 wal-marts here. I went to three and only found a UH lockback, an OT lockback and an UH small stockman. Theses are getting scarce around here!!! I never did find the Tenn. river trapper here!!! Thankful enough OTguy found one for me!!! :D

Walmart may have low stock but the local ace hardware has Plenty schrade products :) Now the only problem is money

Findin' old Schrade knives is gonna be like playin' Where's Waldo soon, you'll be lookin' but ya won't be findin'.

I just found my little UH LB Keyring knife with Stagalon imitation Stag scales, I think it's time to do a Schrade/Uncle Henry inventory. :)

Rev I'm so happy for ya :) , see how little it takes to make us happy :D .

Hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

I have a quite simular but its called 96 OT Classic. Red jigged bone. Its very sharp that 440 steel that is suposed to be no good!!! I also like the trapper style but I think that the hollow ground blades get a little to flexible for the size of the knife. But it has such a scarm.....
