Hello all,
I recently received an older Schrade 293 trapper, two bladed. The blades have decent open and close snap, but some side to side wiggle. How can I tighten it up? I assume I will have to remove the bolsters some how and peen the rivets? Maybe just tighten it up in a vise? If the bolster have to come off, how do I do it? How do I put them back on then?

Thanks in advance for any help.

In a vice and slowly squeeze together, taking the knife out alot to check for tightness. Or give it 1 good smack with a handle, check for tightness, possibly smack again. This is of course smacking the pin.

This is a Schrade, remember. Swinden construction- peining the bolsters won't do much.

So the vise trick is the only way to remove the wiggle from a Schrade? I ask because the folding hunter I just picked up seems to have a bit of wiggle after I cleaned it up.
