The box is the real article, but is the knife? This box should have a knife with bone handles and an etched blade that says Schrade Super Sharp. Rusty and I both posted examples in this thread. Is this knife a variation, or is it a Bear Mfg example?

Anyone know what the red flag was here? The two knives are really similar. It's an easy answer. Price is too high anyway, even if genuine.

can't wait to find out. other than the fuzzy photo of the knife and box which i now have learned to stay away from. love these educational things. makes a better more prepared buyer of us.

Hal,

I'm pretty certain that's one of the Cigar Box Classics knives, 2002 maybe? They were stamped with the Walden stamp, and had identical bone (although it should have a federal shield as well). I believe the TRT's had Schrade+ tang stamps.

Definately not a Bear made knife, generally one way to spot a Bear made knife is that there will be only one pin which goes through the backspring/s. I think for the price it went for someone thought it was an older Schrade Walden knife.

The jigging on the knife above is different from the Tennessee Trapper, the Cigar Box Classics knives had slimmer/finer jigging than the Tennessee Trappers did.

So my thinking is, along with Eric's almost that the knife is a Cigar Box Classics example without a shield. the style it should have fitted is not exactly a Federal shield more of a medieval style shield.

You are right. The Bears did have one rivet. Forgot about the cigar box ones.

Here you go guys (just so happens I have one of those cigar box trappers right here:D ), a shot of the knife in question against the cigar box knife:

I'm thinking the Ebay knife was some kind of unfinished leftover, sold at the big factory WIP debacle, or possibly one that may have been used for an SFO of some sort.

I dont have a TRT example but from the paperwork I don't see a S/W stamp being used. The blade should also be etched with "SuperSharp"
