This new in the box Schrade TRT96 Tennesse River Trapper (a variant of the Schrade 296) arrived yesterday. They were a contract/SFO knife made by Schrade for Walmart and Sam's Club in 2003. I'm glad I stumbled over this one and I like it so much I ordered another one within 30 minutes of opening this one. Other than the two I've ordered, the dealer has one left and I'm thinking seriously about going a head and ordering it. The fact that it has no shield is especially pleasing for me. The jigged bone on this one is very well done.

A man just can't have too many Tennessee River Trappers.

Ya got that right ;) I think my pictures are pretty good but they don't show just how nice these knives are. I guess there's nothing perfect in the knife world but I'm gonna say it anyway; "They are perfedt" !!!!!! I can't find a single flaw on this knife. It's amazing how the jigged bone covers are shown off without a shield to distract from them.

Nice. They're very pretty knives. I got one NOS at a gun show a while back.

Were these contract made or did Schrade do them in house? I swear they're the only trapper that size that Schrade produced unless you go waaaay back to the peachseed bone handle days? I'm sure someone with a bigger library can say for sure, but i know they are bigger than the old timer and Uncle Henry trappers.

Edit: I'm dumb, I forgot about the #96 trappers, lol!
