Well today I decided to try something different. I cut some wood so I could freehand on a tilted stone. Well I got the uncle henry out and tried to reprofile it to a 15/20 edge. Man that thing was thick I finally got it really close to where almost the whole edge was reprofiled to 15 so I started on the sharpmaker and kept going with the primary bevel. Then switched to the 20 degree back bevel I went through my routine with the brown/grey stones and it shaved hair very easily. Then I switched to the whites and just did a few strokes and it is actually duller will not shave now. I stopped cause i'm going to finish tomorrow night, but thought it was really weird that it was duller by doing a few strokes on the white stones anyone know why?
Also, I pulled out the benchmade mini grip while I had the white stones out it's time to sharpen it. I havent touched it since I got it so it needs a new edge. I ran a sharpie across the very edge of it, then did like 4 strokes on each side of the white stones. Boom its shaving sharp again. I love this knife and my sharpmaker. So since I ran it across the 20 degree angle setting and cut across the edge of the knife, that means the factory edge is more obtuse than 20 degrees right?? thanks for the help guys
