Good day everyone,
I have a NOS Schrade Uncle Henry 897UH and was curious if the main blade is supposed to be crinked over a little or bent if you will? it doesn't look like it needs to be but it is.fits in the knife allrite but is for sure crinked over.

thanks in advance.

There is a Imperial Schrade handbook that defines crinking on multi blade knives. I know you don't need the definition but I suspect that since it was described in the handbook that it was cutlery technique employed by Imperial Schrade for its multiblade knives.

There is a copy of it posted here somewhere.

Hopefully some of the experts that worked or knew those that worked at Imperial Schrade will weigh in and give us all a crinking education.

The 897 UH in my pocket has the same thing. My favorite pattern, all like that. rtmind/randy

Most all pocket cutlery with multiple blades have to be crinked to allow the blades to nest without hitting each other or the liners. Blade centering is only used on single blade knives, AFAIK.

Thanks everyone for their replies. im aware that knives especially stockmans have blades that are crinked so everything fits nicely but the main blade on this 897UH is crinked (or bent) around the middle of the blade and the small center sheepsfoot I believe it is is also crinked down around the tang. The main blade looks almost bent over a little in the middle of the blade when it should be straight and would even have room to be straight. maybe that's just the design?

Codger: I got my first Schrade USA 15OT at a very low price...I think. The edge still looks factory but can use some cleaning. Can't wait to get it, clean it up and put my own patina on it once it's been thoroughly inspected of any pits. I did that with one of my USA 152s that was in pretty good shape to begin with. I used red delicious apples to get a rainbow patina on it. Looks good. Later!

PS - Sorry for the intrusion!

Bent. Yeah. Shouldn't be. You can try to straighten it yourself if you go slow and careful. Or get a cutler to do it for you.

Always fun to get a new pattern and make it your own with cleaning and use. Making a BLT sandwich can give a nice patina too. The acids in the tomato and mayo. Congrats on the get!
