Found a Schrade Uncle Henry LB7 at a pawn shop today thrown in a cardboard box with a bunch of other knifes. Dirty, but no damage to rosewood scales. Has some light scratches on bolsters, but SS blade is perfect. Does not appear to have ever been sharpened Has three pins on the scales with serial # Z48065 on bottom of front bolster. Got it for $10.00 out the door. Thought it was a good price. More interested in year of manufacture. Thinking 1979? Any ideas on age?
This is my first Schrade. Normal collection consists of Case Lockbacks and Pro-tech auto's. Just couldn't pass this Bear Paw up. Look like it needed some care and a good home. Would appreciate any help you could give me on this well made knife.

mtangent: Thank you for the tip. Very interesting. Looks like I may have been bitten by the start of another collection.

I got an LB7 when they first came out and I think it only has a four digit serial number, I'll have to look to see for sure. I'm thinking that was in '78 or '79, but I can't remember to be exact. Anyway, it's been a great knife and still has a lot of life left in it. Oh, if your looking into starting an instant USA made Schrade collection, email me :D .

***UPDATE*** I checked my LB7 and it has a five digit serial # "A1234" instead of four digits as I first thought and the rest of my other LB7s and LB8's doesn't have any sn's, maybe they just put sn's on the first few years of manufacture.

I ended up with I think 3 of those? Will have to count them I guess!!!:D 2 have serial numbers and one does not??? All made in the U.S. Think I got them in the early 80s or there abouts ?

That was my first"nice" knife. I had 2 of them when I was quite young and used the hell out of them. Russ

sd550, Doubletee, mycough: I would like to thank each of you for your replies. Good information. Looks like my LB7 is somewhere 30+ years old.
sd555: Appreciate your offer of an "instant collection", but need to study that a little more. I already have a heavy addiction to Colt DA revolvers, and sometimes funds get a little short. One thing for sure, this pawn shop find cleaned up real good and now has a safe place in my range bag. No more lying around with other crusty knifes in a cardboard box at a pawn shop.
Glad that mtangent put me on to this thread. Lots of good information and hope to be able to contribute in the future. Appreciate all the information each of You have provided.

I might be willing to trade for NIB Python (Blue-6") and a NIB Diamondback .22LR (Blue-4") !!!! HA HA, thought I'd go ahead and laugh for you !!!

You have a good eye for a couple very desirable "snakes". Got started many years ago when they were affordable. Prices now, check Gunbroker, are off the wall. As for the offer You threw up, did get a smile, but .......................... Again, thanks for your help with LB7.
