I was going through some old knives and found this knife in the original box with the sheath and sharpening stone, It is a fixed blade hunting knife with a double edge. Tall blade and bone handles.

I have had the knife for 20+ years and it still has the original protective coating on the blade - just wondering if it is anything special.

Thanks, Mike

If this is model #171UH, it's a very hard model to find in any condition. I've seen them sell in the $125-175 range in mint in box shape.

Well for one thing, Schrade is out of business. As a result, all of their knives are selling higher on eBay. I bought one recently for $60 from an online dealer that had a small supply. eBay prices range from $40-ish and up.

I've never seen a ProHunter with bone handles, and none have sold recently on eBay, but I only assume it's worth more than the common black plastic.

Hope someone can give more details about your specific knife.

I was thinking of a Schrade Pro Hunter, model PH1. Perhaps you could clarify?

Bob Bowie, That is the one. Damn you guys are good! Of course my sheath doesn't have the J's embossed on it. Just wanted to know what it was.

Thanks, Mike

I've got one of those I bought from SMKW in 1993. Mine didn't come with a box and I have carried and used it. It just sits in a drawer now but it is a cool knife.

I got this one in the early 80's. It has been sitting in the box for 20+ years. I just like knowing what I have. It is a nice knife, unfortunately I have little use for fixed blade knives as they are too big to carry in my line of work. I have to stick to the folders.

Thanks again for the info everyone, and it was fast too. I had an answer in a couple hours.

Mike
