Which is better for the money? I know both are made in china but wich company has higher qualirt control? and which knife had more edge retention and is easier to resharpen?

The U.S Schrade trappers can easily be found on the bay at reasonable prices.
Buy one that doesn't have the + after the Schrade on the tang and it should be good ol carbon steel. I like the old carbon blades. They can take a wicked edge....

The Bucks should be fine, although I believe they are imported, and probably don't get the same Paul Bos heat treat that others do...I could be mistaken though
IIRC There was talk about them bringing some of the lines back to the good ol U.S of A

No question, go with the Buck. Those Chinese-made Bucks are made to spec under strict guidance from Buck, whereas the Schrades are really just "Schrades" (i.e. when the company went under, they sold off the name to the highest bidder). I'm not crazy about traditional slipjoint knives made in China and would instead buy a U.S.-made Case. However, I have no doubt that the China-made Bucks are good knives for the money.

I read in the Buck Forumn from Joe Houser that the China Bucks do not get the same Heat Treatment as the USA ones do.
