a friend gave me this knife to go into my collection it is in good condition and is a very heavy knife... can anyone tell me more about this knife plz...

If you go to the top of the page, where it says, search this forum, type in 171UH, there are many pages all about the 171UH model, one particular page is titled, 171UH Research Rant. this has a detailed history of this model. Also further down that page is a posting by myself of an early model 171UH, that I have just aquired. Anyone add more info on this most sort after knife, Always like hearing about the 171.

A picture always helps.Does it look like the ones in the picture or does it have a flat brass pommel.Does it have a serial #on the guard.We need all the information you can give us.Welcome and great knife.Arnold

Hi Dwayne, welcome to our forum! The 171UH is a great knife, on of my favorite schrades.

hi everyone, yes it does have a brass pommel handle and the serial number on it is #20732 and thanks for the info on this knife....

We still don't have enough information to accurately date the 171UH's from their serial numbers, But Arnold (tobyrogers) is collecting them, I believe. Every number we add to the list helps, and having a photo to I.D. details helps even more. Even a scan on a flad bed scanner.
