My grandpa gave this knife to me for my 12th Christmas in 1970. I know that I have had it 52 yrs. Trying to get a more exact date. It is a fine hunting knife. I have the original sheath. Bought a new horizontal sheath for it and I still carry it hunting. Any ideas on date range of manufacturing would be appreciated. The ONLY markings are Schrade USA 165 stamped on the blade, handle is Old Timer.

I have the "Uncle Henry" version of that knife, has 165 UH on the blade, and is serial numbered. They are excellent older knives. I am not sure how to date them. I've been told mine is kind of an odd one, because it is and Uncle Henry, but doesn't say Schrade + on the blade. I don't know.

The 165OT (165 OT) model was called "the woodsman". First produced in 1967.

Date source:
as it was not continued in 1967 on the first 165's.

So your knife had to be new or close to it in 1970.
