My wife and I have come across a knife her deceased husband owned. We would like to know if it has any value or collectibility? It is a Shrade USA 25OT / Old Timer 2 blade non-locking knife with no pouch or packaging. If given a rating for quality between 1 to 5, we would say high 2 to low 3. We would like to know as much as possible about this knife, ie. approximately when this knife was in production and a little history if possible. It seems to be an original vintage piece that her first husband used.

Thank you for your time and any information.

I'll take a stab at this, although there are many here who have forgotten more about Schrade than I'll ever know.

Schrade closed it's doors in 2004, so having a Schrade USA knife, especially one used by a departed relative is pretty cool. That being said, I'm pretty sure the only real value of the knife, either now or in the future is sentimental.

This pattern of Schrade is very common, and I don't think there's a good way to date them other than through the provenance. In the condition you describe I estimate it might fetch about $20 on ebay.

However, that said, it's a nice knife -- well made with quality materials. I just imagine it is probably worth as much or more to you than it would be to someone else who didn't have the personal connection to the original owner.
