Just picked up a Schrade USA 497, with 49er on the sheath. Butt marks are an anvil and a shield. Near as I can figure, it's 70's, and one of the first in the 49er series that ran for several years, but not the rarest.

I sure like this knife.

Wanted to find out if anybody knew about it.

I like vintage knives.

Anyone know this knife?

The 497S is 8-3/4" length with a 4-1/2" sabre ground clip blade; carbon steel with a fine hand glazed finish. gGenuine Staglon handle, solid leather sheath. First made in 1973, last mfg in 1977. The last retail suggested selling price was $18.00

Don't know if I want to sell it or not, but thanks for the direction. I'll ask elsewhere.

Thanks for the data, hawk.

If I recall correctly there are 8 or 10 different models in the 49er line. 4 or 5 blade profiles in 2 different handle materials (UH stagalon and stacked leather)
