Cleaned up another for my friend. His Dad was the guide / hunter in Wyoming
in the 50's-60's. He recalls his Dad using the back end of a hatchet on the spine
of the blade to cut thru the Elk breastbone . I reduced the mushrooming, cleaned
and sharpened the blade. Polished the brass and metal. It remains to replace with
leather the space between the brass plates. Purposely did not go overboard on the
refurbish... it did require removing some dessicated game guts on the scales...
vintage ! I did refresh the sheath.

Nice knife. He says it will be a display piece, hand-me-down to his children. A well
earned retirement.

Looks good as new, great work!

Glenn,
Thank you very much. Not nearly the quality or caliber of your craft but
I did attempt attention to detail while remaining true to the original bladesmiths.

I added a few more photos at the end to show that I removed the remnants
of the "string" between the brass handguard / blade guard duo. It may seem obvious
to some but I had great difficulty getting a spacer in-between that didn't look
uneven or cheesy (elongated shape of the brass) . I ended up using an outdoor
boot lace that remained true to the red/black motif . Burned the ends and undertucked
them. I think it looks appropriate to the knife.

Thanks again. The owner is pleased that his Dad's knife has been rescued.
