i found a schrade walden 227 uh lying in the dirt on a construction site about 10 years ago. its in pretty good condition so I think the person carrying it just dropped it. does anyone have any information about this knife. it does have a hole in the back of the handle and it is what looks to be simulated bone. the bone is rather dark with tan edges. it has been sharpened a few times but it holds a great edge. it has just been sitting in a drawer. i was just going to give it away .

d-t, these knives are running anywhere between $60-90 on e-bay depending at what time of day the auction may end. Schrade Walden models generally go for more because they are older than just the knives tang stamped Schrade, Schrade made them after 1973 Schrade Walden previous to 1973, they are the same company, Schrade used to be in the village of Walden NY, They then moved to a new factory location in 1973 across the mountain to Ellenville NY.
The handles are known as Staglon it is actually a polymer called Delrin, they are as you say simulated bone. dates of manufacture I do not have with me, I'm sure someone will add these later, give it away you say, not me, Although If you want to then I'm sure the recipient would be more than happy.
