I purchased this knife as a 1950's Schrade Walden (Unused\Unsharpened). Can any of the experts tell me what you think? I am a little suspect of the shield. I noticed that the shield had a lot of excess glue\adhesive around it and that there was no pin going through to the inside of the liner. Any thoughts or opinions are appreciated!
Other that these concerns the knife seems to be legit. It operates better than any other pocket knife I own and seems to be well constructed.

Here are some photos.

Did Schrade use Stainless in the 1950's?

CDS, Schrade did use stainless in the fifties. Man doesn't that jigging knock you over?!?! I'm no expert but to me it's been polished/cleaned. The Schrade Walden stainless knives I own have that "as ground" type finish. Not sure if it's lighting or what but the blades appear highly polished? In regards to the shield, it's a mystery as to the lack of a pin? Glued? Seems to be. Regadless of everything else, you had me with that wonderful jigging:D:thumbup::cool::eek:

I'm by no means an expert either but that shield does look suspect. Like it was replaced. I don't know what you paid for it but imo it is a beautiful knife regardless.

The shield looks to be replaced for some reason ( pin came out ), but its the proper and maybe the original shield

The 825 was listed as: A 3-9/16″ “Western”,
Slim Premium Pattern; Stainless Steel Clip, Sheepfoot and spey blades.
N/S liners, bolsters & shield; Bone Stag handles; Milled back.
Made from 1953 to1970, the RRP in 1953 was $7.50

If the scales are Bone Stag, it is hard some times to do a good job fitting the Shield.
The jigging of the bone, can be in the wrong place for machining.
I have seen a black filler used around the shield, to make it look better. [Maybe from the factory]
It takes me hours to fit a shield in stag, the factory would not have had that amount of time to spend on one knife.
The shield on the later knives with the plastic scales, were heated and pushed into place. Ken

This is one I have done.

This is a much later made knife, with the shield pushed into the plastic.

Not an inexpensive knife. $7.50 in 1953 would have been one or two days wages for the average worker.
