Hello,

I am new to this forum, but wanted to know if anyone could provide ANY information on a knife for me. It is stamped "SCHRADE/WALDEN/N.Y. U.S.A" on one side of the blade and "882Y" on the other. I see no other markings on the knife. Thanks for any help.

Your knife is nicknamed a Birdseye stockman. It was made prior to 1973, due to the Schrade-Walden tang stamp. They are unusual folders, with the absence of bolsters. They are not super rare, but nice ones usually bring a decent price.

Above is a link to Larry Vickery's very nice website we all use for Schrade references. An 882Y is on that page.

On your knife, is the yellow color a solid colored plastic, or can you see through it? Some of the old yellow knives were kind of translucent.

got this off ebay-near mint-50bucks

Right, kind of like a sucked on lemon drop! I think that might be a celluloid handle, but I'm not for sure about that.

From 1960 catalog.
1st catalog I see it is 1958
Price is MSRP.
