Which years did Schrade use the black jigged "composite" covers. I just picked up an 834 and would like to narrow the date range.

If you are referring to the hard black rubber with a peachseed jig I’m not sure when they started using them, it could go back to the cut co days. However they probably stopped using them when they switched to the swinden assembly. I have not seen the peachseed jig plastic on any swinden assemblied schrades. So that would put it roughly around late 50’s to early 60’s, as that’s when the swinden was starting to be implemented.

I have an early schrade walden (all blades stamped schrade (over) walden (over) ny, with no pattern number) that has the black peachseed synthetic so they apparently used it in the early walden days.
