136

the blade goes out straight on top the curves down to a point then curves back straight to the handle

anyone seen one of these before Thanks RYAN

According to the info I have is that it is a 4-7/16"; Hawkbill w/bail.

Look as the Collectors of Schrades site under the Open Stock knives. The first picture listed should be the 136.

Is that what your knife looks like?

Dale

yes!! thats it, thanks. any clue on when it was made or what its used for. mines in better shape then the one pictured, mine has more of a bill then that one and the blade looks like it hasnt been sharpened, and the wood on the handle is in excellent condition very few dents, good snap, tight blade

Thanks for the info Dale

Hi Ryan, thanks for bringing us your knife and question. Your 136 is a pruner, used for garden pruning, electrical wire stripping, cutting dryway, linoleum, ect. It would have been right at home in the barn where you found it. The tang stamping indicates this knife was made between 1948-1973. It's an old pattern, still in use today. The handle is most likely cocobolo wood.

From the 1953 catalog at 3.75 a dozen. Notice the tang stamp in the picture still says Schrade Cut...

Thanks again guys
im going to the flea market on saturday to see if i can find some good pocket knives, im hook on it now, ill post if i find anything, later guys

How do you guys find cool knives like that at Flea markets? All I ever end up with is, well, fleas. Sigh!!

Bill :(

Bill,
I seem to do best at junk stores & pawn shops. I can never seem to find a flea market with much else but fleas.

Though I must admit I did get an almost new Buck sheath at the last flea market I went to for $1.....a buck for a Buck sheath. :D The only thing else they had in cutlery was chineese junk. :thumbdn:  :thumbdn:

Dale

Hey Dale,

Did you get the sheath? If it is for a 110 you could PM me, I might have one. No fleas...:D

Bill

I got it. I think it is for Buck 119 or 105. It is for a large fix blade.
Does anyone need one?

Dale

Here's 105 (left) and 119 (right) though I believe there were changes in the sheaths over the years.

My 119 sheath is cracked at the belt loop (it's got some duck tape on it right now), I really haven't thought about replacing it, might be easier to have one made over here instead of getting one across the border, and now that I live off retirement pension budget is low.

I have just picked up a version of this exact knife, complete with blade etching, with just the Schrade tang stamp, I know that the knife was made after 1973, Can anyone tell me, how long after 1973 production ran for.

Thanks
