In 1964 Schrade Walden came out with a new design on some of their stainless steel blades. The knife came pre-sharpened with a very fine edge. They called it "Razor Blade Stainless" and even had advertising with a man using a Schrade stockman to shave his face.

Just got the sampler this week, and it's a great day for photos outdoors. Here are some first version of the "Razor Blade Stainless" with early etches, before the patent was made official. A SS700 with simulated marine pearl, 855 in sawcut Delrin, and 718RB with jigged Delrin, and the little cardboard inserts that went into the View Pack tubes. Early Uncle Henry knives were finished in this fashion as well.

Thawk you get onto some nice knives .

I've had a few stainless but they look like a few generations have had them in work .

That blade etching is like it was done yesterday.
That sampler is in top nick .

Awesome examples Hal, gotta love those pat. pending pieces, you know they're early editions!

Here's a little info for ya, one's an ad from I believe 1967, but it could be earlier, showing the shaving man you mentioned above. The yellow copy is from the 1968 catalog, and shows the different models available in the display. Below that are a few shots of one of those knives, the 778, in the case. Note the cardboard cutout, I believe that was a packing insert so the knife wouldn't rattle around during shipping, fits like a glove:
