i previously found a post showing the various tang stamps from the early days to recent. perhaps it was a scan of a page in a book. i've searched repeatedly and can't find it again. can someone post the link ?
i am trying to sort out chronology of Schrade Walden stampings. for example: SCHRADE/WALDEN/N.Y. U.S.A. (881Y on reverse) vs. SCHRADE-WALDEN/N.Y. U.S.A./225H. all replies are appreciated and contribute to my asking fewer questions in the future. roland

yes, that's what i was looking for. i just bought on ebay a Schrade Walden 225H, vintage (and looks it), 5 1/4 in., jigged delrin handles, but tang is like this: SCHRADE-WALDEN/N.Y. U.S.A./225H the post of tang stamps does not show this style. i've checked SMKW for their 150 "Schrades" and this is not one of those (although you cannot see tang stamp in SMKW pics.)
so, hopefully, there are other variations not shown in that chart ? Schrade detective work never ceases ! roland

the knife in pic. by Muskrat Man post about fixin' up a 225H, shows same knife and tang stamp as the one i have coming. so my fears of newbie buys fake are releived. roland

Roland,

The Schrade-Walden stamp is shown in Goins' Encyclopedia as one of the stamps used between 1946-1973. IIRC, it was probably the early '50s until the USA was actually added to the second line.

Someone else may have additions/corrections.

Bill

thanks Bill, that's a big help. i'm going to start looking for a copy of Goins, i think i'm at the stage where i need it. roland
