Ive had one of these three knives for years and I found the JP. whilst out metal detecting I also have a Hammer Brand and it has an engraved arm where it says Hammer. Ive never seen a knife like this "Hammer" one before I think it has an ugly handle as well! Also, would anyone know if any of these handles bone or are they plastic? I have like 20 other different knives Ive collected through out the years. I just wish I still had the gems my grand father had given me when I was a kid:cool:

Welcome to the forum Mac!

The original Hammer Brand was New York Knife Company, then Imperial Picked it up. Your knives here may have a lot of sentimental value, but asking what they are worth in $$$ is frowned upon . They have been well used, and a lot of value is placed on condition. The Ulster looks to have bone handles.

Hey Mac, welcome! The John Primble's a nice one, probably the oldest of the bunch, and has stag handles. The Hammer brand likely has overlayed metal handles, it's an older Imperial knife, and they've been out of business since 2004 (Taylor now uses the name). The Schrade Walden has plastic (delrin) handles, and actually I think the Ulster does too. Hal, it seems to be worn right past the dye, that light fawn color is characteristic of the base color.

I was thinking.... if dare say that the Imperial was celluloid wrap????
Any way welcome to the forum Mac.

Here is a brief summery of the Hammer Brand stamps, copied from KnifeWorld mag.

Thanks guys for the warm welcome & I just wish I had read the "Dont ask what there worth" post before I'am not looking to sell them by any stretch of the imagination
Is that "celluloid wrap" a way of putting their own designs on knives way back UPstream?
Sincerely
Mac

P.S. My fathers name was James they called him Mac because of our last name MacCallum I use it here in respect towards him and his nick name. Some of his older buddies "Navy Buddies" called him "Mac the knife" I was gonna try for that name but some one got it already it seems
Miss ya dad

It's hard to say from those pictures what the handle material is. If you look at the end of the the knife with the blades closed and it looks like a little metal tab in the middle then it is a hollow handled knife with then layer of celluloid or some other plastic wrapped around it.
Here is a few Hammers from around the same time...different patern.
Sorry for your loss.

Beautiful knives Upstream Thanks Upstream I think of him a lot this time of year as he passed on Feb 6th 2005 it was Super Bowl Sunday when we " Patriots" were playing the Philly Eagles . He would always say after watching so many nail biting Patriot games These Patriots are gonna f kill me ! sure enough. They did I can literally call my dad a die hard Pats fan With no disrespect mind you!!!

I was digging in a box of my fathers this past weekend and added a few of MY KNIVES he must have taken away from me as a kid when my Grandfather had given them to me as a kid I always wondered where they went I also found this Case-xx 2 FINN that had duct tape all the way up the handle I couldn't figure it out at first but as I took the tape off the vinyl came off but the sticky stuff stayed so 2 days later of rubbing and a vat full of Ronsonol This is what I got out of that box. I hope you guys enjoy looking at them as much as I did finding them again
Sincerely
Rick M
