I have one NIB marked 1 of 500 First production Run. Papers and zipper pouch also. Any idea as to value??

I thought the SLW1 with the BG42 steel was a 1000 run issue. Do you have a picture of the knife and packaging? I am not knowledgeable about the value, and the SLW1 I believe is fairly rare. It should have a serial number somewhere on the knife. Does yours have a number?

Here is a link to the flyer for the SLW1 and SLW2

On the box it has serial 0331and on the top of the blade back right after the thumb notches the same number 0331. Engraved on the blade are the words FIRST PRODUCTION RUN 1 of 500. Of course on the other side SCHRADE Lake & Walker. Pics of the knife. Numbers might be too small.

I think Larry from Down Under has a few of those. I have one of the stainless steel SLW2's. It is an interesting knife, and my only knife with a pocket clip.

G'day Thawk, I do have several SLW1's..one in the first 500 and the other one of the first 1000 <total production>. I would expect an SLW1 with the first 500 etch with special Schrade wallet and bling, to be worth US$150+ on the right day on fleabay...but you would have to describe exactly what this knifes' attributes are as you will only be able to sell to someone who knows exactly what this knife represents ..as... Incredibly they do not have USA tang stamp <as does its SLW2 brother>...Schrade obviously never saw the need to stamp the superior quality version USA made as they would have had no idea of future events with Shanghai Schit versions......
There are photos of both genuine USA versions on my corner in Larry V site: Schrades R Us..click on Collectors corner..click on Larry H Downunder and scroll thru photos.
They are well designed knives as you would expect from Lake and Walker. Hoo Roo

What is the visual clue in a listing that would tell me that I am looking at the real deal? Thanks!

Both SLW1 and SLW2 have the same etch. The real deal SLW1 has a shiny metal blade and a serial number, no serrations on blade. There is no tang stamp on the SLW1, the SLW2 says only USA. The imposters have SCHRADE stamped and no etch. I am not positive if there is or is not a serrated version of the genuine SLW1.

G'day Calvin,The number on the top blade near the handle on the SLW1 is the immediate difference between the USA SLA2 and the Shanghai's. <Number of course should be 1000 or less>. There are no serrated edge SLW1's they were a special version of SLW2S.
The BG42 blade on SLW1 is smoother and shinier and the titanium handle hardware give the handle a different complexion color to the SLW2 but these are more subtle differences. So to sum up if there is a Number on top of blade and no USA marking and its at a reasonable price grab it. Hoo Roo

I would like to buy a SLW1 in Australia - when you stop running around "LARRY 303" please let me know. I did manage to get a low-numberer D'Holder...
Australian Customs have my SLW1 and have labled it as "a flick-knife".The fight for its return is starting to hot up. All of my SLW2s came in blue tins.

Thanks everyone, for illuminating this knife; I never knew it existed until now. Everyone have a safe, happy and "with friends and relatives" Independence Day. And don't forget to fly our flag!
