I see it in the '73 and '75 short line catalogs as open stock. It listed for $9.60 in '75. That's all I can tell you about it.

Bob,
Away back in 1954 the 863 was in a line called Kon Kav which was to mean the concaved ground on the master blade. It was also embossed on the master. Price in 55 was 3.95 and by 57 had jumped to 4.95.
Pict is from 1954

P.S.
Looks klike the knife was taken out of the catalogs in the late 60's and came back in 73 when they dropped the Walden name with the UH style Stagalon handles.

I have one of these with the schrade-walden tangstamp. paid $5 for mine with a repaired scale, mine has jigged bone.

He is the old guy in spit curls. In real bone you have an exceptional find. Codger where did you get the 73 ect Shortline catalogues? LT

You are too quick this AM, LT.
I was, of course, going to pop off like this...&^&%%$ )(* ))&&& (@#@#! _+$$#...but, I decided not to.

Have a good day, and TTYL.

Imperial was a Schrade sister company, so a family resemblence is not surprising. And Schrade made knives on contract for Camillus and just about every other knife company existant, so that is also not a surprise.

Does anyone know when was the last American made Schrade whittlers produced(non limited edition)? I've been looking for a Schrade whittler user and the 863 sounds like one of the most recent, I've seen a Schrade Walden model, I believe it was 804 listed on ebay and the Imperials made in Ireland. Any info would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Mike

Here is a schrade walden whittler that is in my EDC rotation. Unfortunately, the previous foster parent didn't treat it very well, evidenced by the bad grind marks on the main blade, but it is a great user...

There is no pattern number on mine.

yep thats just like mine glenn. mine has a repaired scale, but the blades are good, little-no wear but have a even patina. mine has 863 pattern number stamped on the master blade. anyone got an approx value?

KnifeWorld did a front page article on Whittlers this month. Just got it today.
Lots of patterns could be a called a whittler. Good stuff.
