Is there any interest her in the 1000 Schrade Lake & Walker knives, made in 2000 with the BG42 blades? "The SLW1"
This is a 2003 production Schrade “Lake & Walker Two”.

First of all, these forums are not to be used for pricing knives.

Back in 2000 they sold for $200, and sold well. In the past 6 years I have seen them sell for less than the Production SLW2s in a tin. (under $50 up to about half the 2000 price)

As you can see by this post, when I asked; “Is there any interest her in the 1000 Schrade Lake & Walker knives, made in 2000 with the BG42 blades? "The SLW1"
Now after two months; You are the first to reply to my post; that speaks for its’ self. Then you show very little interest, posting no reply or photos.
Does your knife have U.S.A. stamped on the blade? And does it have a number stamped on the top edge of the blade?

I would like to know; why there is very little intrest in these knives, made by Schrade back in 2000-2001?

I have three:
a] two are partial serration blades, no number, U.S.A. stamped on blade, one also has "Special Edition" on blade but seems just like the first;
b] the other is no-serration, no U.S.A., has "1 of 500" on blade and has number on top base of blade [0000 format, so they probably where planning on more than 500?]

My lack of interest is probably because I remember these knives on sales at Wal-Marts in NY, PA and FL. I associate the Schrade/Wal-Mart link as one of the issues which led to the closing, and thus these knives make me a little sad.

My only Lake & Walker is one of the less expensive models, not the BG42. Bought it on closeout for around $30 (I'll check my records later for the actual price).
I doubt either version is currently worth anywhere near the original retail prices, especially the BG42, which was grossly overpriced to begin with.

As I remember 2000-2001, I purchased Greg Lightfoot in BG-42 at this time, and that was the "super-steel" for about 7 months. Thus, I think Schrade was very cutting edge with this knife. A year or so earlier they made a small ATS folding blade that was also very nice. My post above not withstanding, the "pimp" model is a very good knife which has many of the features a "state of the art" folder of 2013 features. The non-BG42 knives are also very nice, but I do not like serrations.

Is there a quick way to distinguish between the SLW1 and SLW2? Were all of the BG42 knives straight, and all of the others serrated?

Hi Bob,
There is a quick way to distinguish between the three Schrade Lake & Walker knives.
The SLW1 has a BG42 blade that is not stamped U.S.A.
The first 500, have a “First Production Run 1-500” blade etch; the other 501- 1000 don’t.

The SLW2 knife with the serrated blade, is the common one of the two SLW2 knives.
Now-a-days the SLW2 knife with the non-serrated blade is a little harder to find.
Both SLW2 knives have U.S.A. stamped blade.

SLW1 examples have a serial number on the spine? Lack of interest in my opinion is that most Schrade USA interest, at least here in this particular forum, has been in traditional knife patterns, not so much the non-traditional experimentation.

Sorry I left out "the serial number on the spine" thawk.

There is also a difference in the handle colour. The SLW2 handles are Gray; and the SLW1 has "Black Zylite and Kevlar" handles.
They were also sold as a "SLWD DISPLAY" with a Schrade D'holder.

This is one of my SLWD sets. The 2001 retail price was $400. Ken.
