R.I.P Ray Bradbury, in my youth you sparked my interest in Sci-Fi.

Sci-fi legend Ray Bradbury dead

Science fiction author Ray Bradbury, whose imagination yielded classic books such as "Fahrenheit 451," "The Martian Chronicles" and "Something Wicked This Way Comes," has died at 91, his publisher said Wednesday.

Bradbury "died peacefully, last night, in Los Angeles, after a lengthy illness," the HarperCollins statement said.

Bradbury's books and 600 short stories predicted everything from the emergence of ATMs to live broadcasts of fugitive car chases.

"In a career spanning more than seventy years, Ray Bradbury has inspired generations of readers to dream, think, and create," the statement said. "A prolific author of hundreds of short stories and close to fifty books, as well as numerous poems, essays, operas, plays, teleplays, and screenplays, Bradbury was one of the most celebrated writers of our time.".................

I hope he indeed died peacefully, that man has written some amazing stories. The Martian Chronicles was amazing.

Nickels is back!!!! Sorry to read about Ray, he was a great writer, my wife got to meet and talk with him for a while at a writer's workshop some years ago. He was a gentleman and fun.

Best known and most loved of all writers from Waukegan, Illinois.

He had a great run, and enriched the lives of many. I will miss him. Read his and Issac Asimov's books instead of watching the "reality shows" on SyFy channel. Heck read anything rather than watch that tripe. Thanks Ray!

Terrible news.

His work was simply amazing; without peer.

The first real book I can specifically recall reading was Fahrenheit 451. The Martian Chronicles and the Illustrated Man came shortly afterwards.

I read quite a bit, and I think that is because I got a good start with Fahrenheit 451.

Years ago, Ray was doing a book signing in CA at a small book store. I was in NC, but really wanted to get a few books signed.

I contacted the book store, and asked if they would mind if I sent a few books for him to sign if I paid return shipping. At the time, I was completely obsessed with his work.

I got a little carried away, and probably sent 10 books. Most authors will only sign 1 book per reader.

Ray signed and personalized all of them; he even spelled my name right.

He probably didn't think much about it, but I thought that it was a really nice thing to do.

He will be missed!

Great story, it's always great to hear stories about good people like that that do the little things that matter.

Thanks for all the countless hours spent enjoying your works - RIP.

Truly the last of the golden age of SF. The Martian Chronicles and Something Wicked This Way Comes were what
began my lifelong interest in fantasy/sci-fi; God rest you Ray, a talent beyond measure or compare.

I much enjoyed his books and am sorry to hear of his passing. RIP, sir.
