I have been sharpening scissors for my mother and sister. 2 pairs of hair cutters, and 1 pair of pinking shears, and they have been VERY happy with my work. Got a pair of hair cutters today that I can't get the screw out of. I have tried an impact driver out of desperation. Any suggestions?

forget the screw, open the scissors as far as you can and use a 6" stone and hand grind it following the angle.

The screw may be welded in. You could try to drill it out then tap in new threads.

sometimes they peen the end of the screw to keep it from backing it out. see if you can screw it in and if so, look at the end and see what it looks like. if the threads look closed up file past that point and it should back out. in the few thousand pairs of scissors i have done over the years i have ran into that problem before. there are some you just cant take apart.
