Hello,
As I become involved with sharpening edges other than those found on cutlery, I wanted to find out some of the 'secrets' of sharpening scissors and shears.
I plan on following the original sharpening angle the tool was ground at, but one thing has been bothering me: how fine should the edge be and what grit should it be finished at? If I decide to mirror polish the edge, will that cause problems?
Maybe I should give some examples. For instance, what grit should I finish:
Fabric shears
Hair stylist shears
Paper shears
Deboning/Kitchen shears?
Obviously, we're no longer using the edge as a cutting tool but for shearing, so the rules may have changed. Thank you in advance for your responses.
