get some real high grade match ammo and something in the Burris scout scope range.

There are lots of optics out there, many in the $600 and up range, but Burris uses pretty decent glass and they don't break the bank. Use the best .223 ammo you can buy for the task at hand, and have a ball.

If I were you I would borrow a good scope or take one off of your other rifles and see how well your rifle shoots. If it shoots great and you definetly want a scope(I think a scope adds to much bulk) I would choose a low powered scope with large field of view(fov). Be carefull the burris 4 power compact I bought has a smaller fov than a full size scope.I have the mini-30 and like it best with peep sites.

If you decide to buy a scope remember a high quality one will last almost forever and you won't have to wonder if something is wrong with it and if something is wrong, it will be taken care of quickly.Patrick

Probably something in the 2.75 range would work just fine. 4X would be the max IMHO.

you might also consider something from the Aimpoint line or one of the "red dot" systems that offer 2x magnifications. Out to 200 yards, these work great, and they do not break the bank!!!!;)

I was going to recommend the Burris 4X Compact. If you look around the web you can find one in Silver that will really match the Ruger well. It's FOV is small though as mentioned above, but that shouldn't be a problem. I put one on my Marlin SS 336 in 30-30 and really like it. BTY I've owned three Mini-14's and got rid of them because of the lack of accuracy. I hope yours is better than mine were.
