Score again on the BAY, Hopefully?

When I saw the subject header for this thread, I thought I was going to open it up and see that you won that one liner twin set on the auction site a couple days ago. :)

Hope you're right on this 119!

I bid thinking if it was a barrel nut with leather spacers, I want it but I couldnt tell from the picture. If I bid and it wasn't I didn't want to blow more than $200 on just a one liner. From the thickness of the spacers I believe this is a barrel nut 119 with leather spacers. And I gt it for under $200. The others bidders were just as unsure as I was. This will complete the 119s from pre incorporation '61 through 1985. Thats all 10 knives... I am working on the 120s as well. I have all the 121s from '64-'85. I just dont know where to turn my focus now...

I got the knife in the mail today, and to my surprise it is a 119 barrel nut with leather spacers. These were made for a year in 1961. To find one is a with the original sheath is amazing. I never thought I was going to be able to one afford one and two ever find one to bid on. I guess I can thank my lucky stars that the fellow who had this one, had no Idea what he had. I will post pictures soon.

That's a great looking knife Matt and yes a hard one to find in that condition. I would have it cleaned, but that's a matter of preference.

I like them to be cleaned as well but I know there are those few out there that are purists and like to keep there findings the way they were when they found them. Thanks for the nice words hkingdom. I was hoping you would show up and comment. I haven't got many comments, just looks.

I noticed that the older fixed blades have a complex grind. It appears to be hollow ground and then flattened out. Does anybody have any idea what this is called or why Buck did this. Or maybe I crazy...

Matt, If you decide to clean it, take it to Leroy and have him do it. He is the only one I feel will do it honor.

That was my plan. He is a short drive away and I have several things to be cleaned/worked on. Thanks for the comments.

I was talking to a guy that makes custom knives, mostly out of Buck knives. When I mentioned that I got my hands on a 119 with leather spacers, he said I didn't over pay but I didn't under pay. I disagree, These seldomly come around and when collectors see them the can get pricy.

Does anybody have an idea what these sell for. I think I got a good deal, does anybody disagree?

With good pictures and description it would have attracted a lot more attention and gone higher.

I've noticed the same type of grind on some of the 110s, too. The one I've been carrying lately has that same type: hollow grind, which stops a little ways up from the edge, appears to flatten out, and then there's the secondary bevel/cutting edge.
This 110 I'm talking about is a 3-line, no dot, Ver5/Var3, 1972-1974.

Nice score! :)

Matt, I sold one for $200 this year in about the same condition as yours to a private collector. I think you got it for a good price.

Thanks HKingdom, I feel better now that you said it. I am looking for the white ones now:)
