SCORE of 9.1 FIELD TESTED.

Thats great Robbie, the Revolver-H is one great knife;). It easily deserves a 9.1.. in fact... I think it deserves a 10.:D

Hello Robbie Roberson, I live in Vancouver B.C. and i am in cadets. I am looking for a fixed blade knife for camping, right now i have a leathermam tool. I have looked at the seal revolver and the seal pup. But looking at this web site I have heard a lot about the Hunting Revolver. Could you recommend me a knife?

Cheung, welcome to Bladeforums :D ,

The Hunter Revolver is a great knife for almost any outdoor situation you might encounter, especially if you ever plan to skin or field dress game. If you do not plan to field dress, then the gut hook can be used for many other things around camp.

If you do not want or plan to never use the gut hook, then the SEAL Revolver has the same exact qualities as the Hunter, without the gut hook. It too can saw and do almost any chore you need around the camp.

I am including a link to a field test done by one of our members here. SOCINTEL did a review a few weeks ago that has some of the best pics I have ever seen taken showing certain things the Hunter Revolver is capable of doing.

Try to decide if you will ever need the gut hook, this is about the only way you can decide which of the Revolver series would be best for you, thanks for your interest.

Well first thanks Robbie for telling me about that review, after looking it I found the knife very use full. But the sheath of the Hunting Revolver is different then the Seal Revolver. The Kydex sheath would be a little bit more use full for me, because I switch the knife from my webbing to my belt a lot.

If the sheath is a problem than you might want to check out On/scene tactical it is run by another guy here on the forums who goes by the name of "NORMARK". From what I hear, his sheaths are top notch quality.

Cheung Victor, you are very welcome, you might also contact SOG and ask if they can "substitute sheaths", not sure on this but I know they sell the sheaths separately. The Hunter will interchange with the SEAL models, of course all the SEAL models come with kydex.

Yes, the Revolver-H comes with a leather sheath. What Robbie was saying is that you might be able to "trade" the leather sheath back to SOG for a Kydex sheath.;)

I read that review. Good deal. I love mine but now we need a smaller version with a drop point blade. :D

Ohh, I see now. Ok I’ll try doing that thanks a lot Robbie. Oh yeah have you been to the sog web site? They have Hunting Revolvers in the SOG 2nds with high Hones. Do you think that would hurt the performance of the knife, is worth it to get it?

Hello Cheung Victor ,

I have not seen any of these knives but I will contact Chris at SOG and see if he can shed some light on these models just to make sure.

Robbie Roberson :)

I am not an expert, but from what I have been told that means that the edge grinds are a little high. That should not affect the performance of the knife very much but I think it might effect how you sharpen the knife, but I do not know that for sure. The best bet would be to contact the SOG Seconds department, at 888-405-6433 x240 or retail@sogknives.com, and talk to them about the knife.
