Well I went looking at garage sales today, I'm not sure if I Scored or Busted. Before I say what I may have busted on, let me say it was a way to pave the way. I went to a sale where the guy had a bunch of crap knives and one broken Buck. I asked him if he had any more Buck knives and he replied " I have a whole safe full to the top". At this point I think I was drooling. He was a frail old guy. He told me that he was unable to get at it( the safe) because of all of the stuff in the garage. He said " but wait, I think I have a few you can look at". He took my name and # and said he would call when he got to the safe. He brought out a box full of the 2005 Commerative 110 sets w the key rings, mabey 30 of them. He sold me 3 for 25 ea. I figured he may call later when the big guns come out.

Hmmmmm.......possibilities.

I'd stay in touch with him. I'd bring a present for his wife.

I'd help him clean out the garage.

:)

You read my mind, but Guessing by his age and why all the sudden he is selling all of his stuff, She may not be around. I didnt see her only his son. I think he may be sick as well. What about the tins???

I'd hop all over that deal. Thats a very good price for those. Who knows what he may have. If thought enough to buy a bunch of tins he may have NIB dots and disco'd knives.....Now I'm droolin just thinkin about it.

Don't know about the tins, but doesn't sound like you could lose any money. Wouldn't hurt to lose a little to start a relationship.

Check'em out on e-Bay.

It is worth investing some time to get to know the guy. Keep in mind he may have a pocketful of phone numbers of guys that are thinking the same thing as you.

:D

Went on the Bay and they only had the 112 Comm tin for 50 Bucks, This is the one w the buck (deer ) key chain bottle opener. The bay has none. In addition I dont think others have hit him up for his knife collection. He had them away in a safe and was only selling the other stuff.

I think you scored big time, that's a great deal! He sounds like an interesting guy, maybe he's a former Buck employee or a long time collector.:)

MB, you did ok... I was going to go to a sale out by you today... That had knives for sale but I didn't go... But, I did find a few today... Out in San Marcos... You can't go to all the sale... ... ITE

The tins went for $25 each back in that year. They did get marked down, but you got a great deal. You could easily sell them for $30 each on the bay. Hope he opens the safe for you....

Those tins were dropped to $13.00 - $11.00 each in the store after the Christmas rush was done. I sold some of the extra tins from that run at $25-30 each (good deal and they have the Idaho tang stamp).

Go help the guy do his yard work and clean his garage. Don't forget to buy some of his guns after you buy all of his Buck knives;).
