Earlier tonight I was sitting here on the computer, and decided to go to the bay and check the recent BM listings. Usually I don't see much, and I wasn't expecting tonight to be any different...

The first thing I saw that was just listed was a 556 Mini Grip. Black, with a coated blade. The pictures weren't great, but it just looked dirty, and there was slight wear of the blade coating. Then I noticed the price. It had a buy it now of $38.49 with free shipping

I quickly pulled up one of the pictures to look at the blade closer, and to see what the steel was. D2....
It's a Cabelas D2 Mini Grip for $38.49...

I couldn't hit the Buy it now button fast enough. I just knew someone else was going to beat me to it, but for once I lucked out.
I will post pictures of it when it arrives. It doesn't happen often, but deals like this make me smile :D

Nice. I am seeing a lot of people saying avoid eBay knives but I've scored a couple good ones on there, some people just don't know exactly what they have when they put it up there.

There are definitely sellers there that a person wants to stay away from. I think for the most part, as long as a person knows what they are looking at, and the seller has a good rep, you can still do good sometimes...

I think in this case you are right, the seller didn't know what he had. To him it was just a dirty, used knife. It doesn't happen often though. Usually it goes the other way. People have a little idea of what they have, and they think it is gold.

Nice grab.
I find a good score somewhere or another about once or twice a month. I share the opinion that most of the deals are from those who may not know just what they have and agree that most think they have more than they do.

It's fun finding good deals :D

Nice catch. Now show us the pic!!!

The sellers pics weren't very good. I will post pics when it arrives

Yup--in the past I've scored a few good deals on the net for BM knives on the Bay and other sources

You just have to look around--be patient and have the funds ready for a quick sale if need be.

Enjoy your good deal.

As Mike says, if you know what you are buying and what you are getting it should be fine. There are a lot of people that try and unload knock off items from other manufacturers. They buy something that they feel is a steal of a deal, only to then spend the next few months questioning the authenticity of their "precious". If the concern of legitimacy outweighs the price you are paying, then buy from a retailer with a good reputation.

Yep. I learned a long time ago, on the really good deals, if you wait and put to much thought into it, it will be gone. Thanks

Well said Charlie. Especially the last sentence. That is Sig worthy :D

It's funny, I usually get more excited buying used knives  This one isn't pristine, but should clean up nicely. Thursday should be a great knife day. The Cabelas knife should be here, and I have an early 555 with the oval hole coming on Thursday too :D Might have to take the day off from work lol

It boils down to KnowYourProduct, and pay attention to the ratings of the seller. If there are any less-than-positive scores, there are numerous vendors most of us know that do inspire confidence.

awesome score! Ive got the exact same knife in like new condition. Got some knives ship free micarta green scales on the way for it.

Absolutely. It's really not much diffeent than buying here in the Exchange.

Nice... That will look good

Well, my score arrived. The sellers pictures weren't very good, but I could tell that it was dirty and showing wear. I was just hoping it didn't have major issues that I couldn't see in the pictures. For the price, I didn't have time to ask the seller questions :D

So, here it is the way I received it... Other than very dirty, some wear on the blade coating, and some dings on the scales. it was still very salvageable.

Last night I took it completely apart, and gave it a thorough cleaning. It had a collection of dirt and other things inside, and I don't think the pivot had ever been oiled...
So after cleaning everything and polishing the washes, I put her back together. Much better :D Now it is very smooth opening and closing.

Originally I was going to swap out the pocket clip. I still have a polished split arrow, a polished deep carry, and a black split arrow clip that aren't being used at the moment because I keep playing musical clips. After thinking about it, I decided to strip off the rest of the paint on the clip, and see how it looked leaving it natural. It seemed like it would be a good fit because the knife is obviously not pristine. It does have some scratches on it that I didn't bother taking out, but I actually don't mind how it looks.

All in all, while it shows it has been used, it still has a lot of life left in it, and I can't complain for the price...

that was a great find! I always think they look better with a little wear :D

Thanks. While I like knives that are pristine, I've come to appreciate a knife that shows it has been used, and developed some character.
Besides, they are usually cheaper :D

Best $38 dollars ever spent. Cleaned up real nice, and many more years left.
