As many of us have discussed, Walmart sells a Vantage Select in Dymondwood that Buck makes just for them but is VERY hard to find. I went to the closest Walmart in Hood River Oregon today and bought their LAST one! They had it on sale and the manager said they will not be getting any more of these in ever again as they are being discontinued. Sounds like this has now become a collectors piece for sure. This is again from my cell phone camera but you get the drift!

I've been wanting a Vantage of some flavor since watching Nutnfancy's take on them. Probably time to hit the Walmart is see what they have left. :thumbdn:

The scales on the w/m Vantage remind me of a Mossy oak theme. I got one as well. had to have the edge profile evened up it was really bad. but other than that it is great. I need to add a small and a grey dymondwood to my collection. luv em!

What's the difference between the walmart diamondwood and the diamondwood ones on ebay?

the ones on the bay are dark grey to black with patterns of grey and variations of that.

One slight difference I've noticed with the Wal Mart "select" ones, as opposed to a regular "avid" charcoal dymondwood ones, is that the Wal Mart ones have a rougher textured finish, instead of a more polished smoother one.

The Walmart Select with Dymondwood has a 420hc blade, the Avid with Dymondwood has a blade made from a different, and better steel.:D

I havent noticed a difference between the textures of mine.

I went to Walmart a few months ago to check these out. They had the wood version for $19 what a deal IMHO. They also had the plastic version and wanted $30 for that one. I liked the wood better. however, of the 10 box's all marked with the wood # there was only one wood....the guy at the counter would not sell me one of the $30 plastics for the $19 price as listed on the box. That's what I get for pointing out the mistake in the first place. But, I wanted to open 10 box's of woody's and hand pick the best one;).

Here is the one I got...not bad for the price! It was the only woody in the store.

You got a deal apperently they had the pricing backwards, the woody was supposed to be $30 and the paperstone is $19.

The one's below I picked up last year and they showed a fair variation in colors. The last few I've gotten, not so much. None of mine have felt rough, but they aren't quite as slick feeling as the Avids and Pros.

I hate to keep driving 40 minutes out of my way to check the only wally's that carries them and find they still havent disco priced em, but I would hate more to miss out on them.

That's what I meant, the ones I held, are like yours, it's not a big difference, just like maybe the WM select's handles scales were not quite as polished.
