Just completed a five-year quest. :D

A little backstory. In '85, my mom got Dad a 125OT for his birthday. He carried it daily until '99, when it was stolen. Since, I've looked for one.

$21.48. :D Cash money, new in box with sheath.

Finished. :D

Nice grab S&S! If you plan on holding on to that one, you'll need to find another one to carry/use. :D

There are a couple on my list that I keep an eye out for as well. Nothing as sentimental as your dad's was to you but stuff I'd be stoked about finding just the same.

I plan on doing the same with that one as I am doing with my 858- honoring the intent of the fine Schrade cutlers by putting it to work. :)

That little... Grrr...

The EBayer I found it with swore the maker was Imperial Schrade, so it was US. It's Taylor. :( Complaint sent.

Returned the knife with a tube of KY lube, I hope. Sorry to hear such luck. Anyone have a good 858 laying around for S&S?? If I did, it would be in the mail to you.:(

EDIT- Meant to say 125OT

An 858 or a 125OT?

I don't have a 858 (been looking but no luck). :(

I thought I had a couple 125OTs but I just checked my list and it only shows one. I will keep a look out for S&S.

Doh! Braindead here! 125OT it is. Sheesh! Don't have one of those laying around here either.

*jawdrop*

I'm humbled, folks. I knew we had good folks here, but wow. :)

As for the "knife"...

The second I took it out of the envelope, I knew it was a copy. Taylor box, as flimsy as if it were made of paper instead of cardstock. Schrade-styled paperwork, with the Taylor mark at the bottom.

The knife though... sigh. No lanyard hole. Shield upside down. Edges so squared it feels like holding a block of wood. Blade that I would swear is stainless, from the polish and smell. The snap is anemic at best, worse than even my well-loved 1960s Case '65.

The sheath is what got me. In this place, I know exactly what it should have. I still have Dad's- it wasn't in the truck when the tools were stolen. That sheath is 20 years old, and the leather is thicker and more solid than the new one.

Worst of all- it doesn't even lock. Doesn't that make it a 126 instead?

Oh well. Hopefully it'll swing, and if anyone has a lead on one, I'm open.

Edited to add... in a moment of sheer need for sanity, I stopped by a local hardware. Found an original 77OT for $22, and that helps. Still watching for a 125, though.

Well, as an update...

The 77 I got is an excellent knife. Edge pretty obtuse, but I'm patient. :)

As for the "125", no reply yet on my complaint. The quest continues.

S&S,
Sorry to hear what you have been going through.
Just to note. The 126OT is exactly the same as the 125OT except the blade is stainless. Both are linerlocks. Only the older models of the 125OT's have a lanyard hole.

Check out the pictures on my site to see the 2 I have.

So what is this abomination, then? A 124?

How long should I wait for the seller to get back to me? I found a genuine 125 and am bidding, but I want that $26 back.

hey s&s the one below the one your bidding on is the real deal for sure, i think i would bid on it. and a sad fact is i got a 125ot from my dad when i was like 14 and i lost it and i just recently found it (26 now) and the tip of the blade is brokin off and all rusted :( i think my step dad used as a pry bar and snapped it off ( what a shame) RYAN

S&S,
I would complain to ebay or PayPal if you paid through them.

I got a 5UH last year that was made in china. I got in a hurry and didn't read the whole ad. My bad. I couldn't complain because it was in the ad, not the case in your buy. I would complain until he refunds your money.

Just my $.02,
Dale

Well, here, folks. A quote from the listing, seller's name removed.

Old Timer Mustang Brown w/ Sheath

Manufacturer:Imperial Schrade
Manufacturer Model:125OT
UPC:044356001007
Condition: new.
We ship MOST items world wide, email for Int'l rates.

It clearly says Schrade, does it not?

I have one more I'm going after. We shall see. Money's tight, but I'm being aggressive in going after a refund. Just sent a message through EBay- that's an email and an EBay message. I figure I'll use the refund towards a real one.

Someone feel to correct me but I do not believe Taylor has or uses the Imperial Schrade name.
The chinese Taylors are made under the name, Taylor Cutlery, LLC.
I think that Imperial Schrade is the old Schrade that went out of business two years ago today. :(

Someone step in and let S & S know if I am wrong.

Dale

Ahhhh... much better.

Just got a lot of OTs- 2 125s, one with, one without hole, an 8, a 3 and a 77. $82, but my dad is buying one of the 125s from me. Should cost me about $50.

Also found a 10 OT that I'm chasing- now to hope one of y'all doesn't find it!

S & S,
Go for the 10OT. I will back out. You are bidding against me. My ebay name is servantvet. I have another I am bidding on also. Plus I still haven't given up hope on the one where the guy sent me the wrong knife.

Good luck,
Dale
