Today, I was at the L.I. knife/gun show and was amazed at the selection of blades. There was one section in particular that had an awesome collection of knives including a Pro-Tech Runt 2 that I happened to see in one of the display cases partially hidden under a Spyderco box. I asked to take a look at it and saw that it was a numbered first production run...needless to say, I was pretty excited especially when the guy running the table said he'd let it go for $70! I have never seen this coloration of handles on a Runt. If anyone knows more about it, please let me know as I haven't been able to find any versions like it. Here are a few pics. UPDATE 5/3/11: Pro Tech says that the first production run number on this knife is the number out of the entire first Runt 2 production run (all colorations/variants). However, it turns out that this particular "Emerald Jazz" finish was a small portion of that first run. Only about 30-40 of these were made. Check out Gosdent's post to see the e-mail from Pro Tech.

Very nice! I've always wanted a Protech Runt. I just never broke down and bought one.

Thanks. Its always interested me but I never could bring myself to buy one just from seeing pictures on-line. When I saw this model in person and for the price that was being asked, I couldn't resist and i'm glad I went for it.

I think you got one hell of a deal :) That's a neat looking little knife , aluminum handle ?

Anyone have any info on this knife as far as what year it was produced in or what the handle finish is called?

Still haven't found any info on this configuration/coloration...don't think its a fake though. anyone know more about these?

I surprised Droppoint today when I saw him, because I had secretly emailed protech asking about it, and this is the reply:

"Yes, the EMERALD JAZZ is what we called that finish. It's a neat process, done by a completely different anodize house than our "BLUE JAZZ" stuff.

We probably made about 30-40 of those RUNT2 with this finish. It would have been built around 7-8 years ago.

At the same time we did some Godsons and a few models with that finish.

Thanks,
Protech Knives"

I'm still surprised at how few of these are around. I liked this blade alot before but now that I know its worth considerably more, it's even nicer.;) Does anyone else happen to have one of these gems in their collection?
