Brand new, it is the earlier model from the 1200 marked run, signed by both Applegate and Fairbain (Germany production of 440C stainless) with the Laminated gray Micarta.

I really wanted this model for a while, but up to now I could only find the black coated/500 run model (with plastic scales) and lots of the newer Chinese made 420 steel/plastic scales.

Paid $130 to my door! Cant beat that!
I hope to toss up a few action shots and maybe modify the blade a bit (like maybe foward serrations like the 'flying' cuts that Busse Custom shop uses), and maybe a 'high polish'... look for pictures in January...

I used to not like the smatchet but I have had a change of heart ,it is no beauty like the SF or AF daggers but it has a certain appeal and it could look great with some mods especially the flying cuts.

I am in the process of looking for a good file set (course and smooth) to begin a serrated/flying treatment on the Boker. I may go round, or triangle? have not decided yet, and (file) sizing is still up in the air...

then sharpen her up... scales off for a new beadblast then done (or duracoat finish?) this is exciting...

IRONBALLS;
I too have one of those smatchets from the 1200 run. It is nice but I dread sharpening it. If the steel is like whats on the AF that Boker makes it is going to be a b$#%@*. I don't like the original bead blast because I get a small section that will get surface rust. I would like to get a more flexible sheath made for it.
I also have what I believe is an original WW2 smatchet that I got from my dad when he died. It is kind of crude looking compared to the current designs. Now if I could get the AL MAR version.....
