at the largoganzaaa the other night! I've searched around with no luck to find any pics of the Vex in use or any reviews of the blade. Sure would like to see some pics!

How's this for a review?

The most functional EDC sized blade ever made by any Bussekin company.

Now, I obviously don't own most of the EDC sized blades, but the vex is the only one I've EVER seen or heard of that doesn't have a choil OR a talon hole OR a little guard, all of which waste valuable blade real estate on such a small knife.

Brilliant slicer that feels great in hand and packs a lot of usable edge into a compact package. It goes with me almost everywhere I go.

How does it compare, edge retention and sharpening-wise, to the other Bussekin steels?

It came with a full convex zero grind, and I haven't had to do anything beyond strop it to keep it hair-popping sharp, but I also haven't beat on it, so I can't really speak to ease of sharpening.

Edge retention seems pretty good, maybe not as good as INFI, but possibly better than SR-77. That's incredibly subjective, though, because I don't use a little knife like the vex in the same way I do a big SR-77 chopper. I haven't done a rigorous side by side test.

Sweet. Thats about what I was hoping for. For the price, I am sure that it is amazing.

Thanks!

MM, you and KnifeGuy are two guys who's opinion I trust. Can't wait to get that blade in my pack!

Congrats, I played with a few Vexs at Blade and they're sweet.

Great balance and weight with a lightsaber edge of D2 in a perfect size.

Wish I would of picked one or two up but I was wallet deep in INFI at that time. Of course, I had to be out of town for Lardo and missed them again.:(

I'll stop whining now.:D

Congrats again.

HCLE is nice, but I'm hoping this handle is wider. Sort of like a Dozier skinner handle.

I am not sure what you mean by wider, but the Vex's handle is taller and narrower.

The HCLE is more squarish round.
The Vex is more elongated oval.

... if that helps.

But, to me, more importantly, the Vex's handle has just enough length. Whereas, for me the HCLE is just a hair short in the handle length.

The Vex ROCKS!!!

I agree with MM (and purely speaking for Knifeguy ;)), IMO as well, the Vex is one of the BEST smaller knife designs released by any Busse and kin company under the S5 and RMD size. The Vex is ALL function and ALL WELL functioning. Great blade and great handle.

I also have not torture tested the Vex D2. I understand it to be hardened more than the older D2. So, it should hold an edge longer, but be a bit harder to sharpen and not quite as tough. More suited as a slicer/cutter than a pry-tool.
