I've had my eye on Hinderer knives for a while. I'd been watching and waiting for a chance to pick one up. I'd take just about any, but if I had my preference, I'd prefer a blue XM-18.
Cyber monday was my lucky day. I stayed up Sunday night knowing that bladehq was doing a cyber monday sale and I wanted to see what they had. I refreshed often and checked out the stuff they were adding a piece at a time. Nothing exciting until the end. Now I've also been looking at a Curtiss F3, and they posted some beautiful F3s that had some custom grind work done - but they were a lot more than I had thought about spending. As I thought there debating it, bladehq updated their site with...blue hinderer XM-18s. Score.
I jumped on it and ended up with a slicer. They sold out in a minute or so. I was stoked. As I sat there contemplating my luck, I decided I was going to buy the F3 as well. What the hell. It was blue (my favorite knife color) and it was a one of a kind.
I came here to revel in my hinderer, and I saw the post that Rick was also doing a black monday sale. I waited around, and what do you know, I scored on that one too! Another XM-18, in blue, this time with a spanto blade. I also picked up a couple of scales at the sale price. I had gone from wanting a blue XM18 for a long while to picking up 2 in the same day. Crazy. Thanks again to the folks who made it possible. I was trying to press my luck and hope for the trifecta with the lottery announced today, but alas, it wasn't to be. Good thing, I'm going broke!
Here's the results. Notice the blue anodized ti on the bladehq model as well as their logo. Cool stuff with these blades.
