I just got done using the Scotch Brite on my 18" after using it to chop some wood with last Saturday.
I was being careful, but like Rudy did the other day I managed to get the edge again and it dulled it.

I tried to work it out with the chakma, but it wouldn't pull the edge back to where it should be.
Before using anything else I thought since the stuff took the edge off I wonder if it would help put it back. I layed the blade down over the sink and proceeded to push it along the whole blade and towards the edge at the bevel.

It brought it back to where the chaka took care of it.
I knew Rudy would like o know this and it might help out the rest of the "Kuhk Kooks" that use the stuff t keep thier blades up.

"Kuhk Kook" I don't know who first used that, but I kinda like it. I know it fits me most days.

I'm just a knife knut the others.

Thanks for the tip Yvsa. I didn't think to try that although I should have. I really like using the scotchbrite pad to so I will have try that technique next time. So thank you very much. It makes me all the happier

It is Very Big Evil "S" Eating Grin.

I inheireted this from my grandfather and passed it on to my grandson.
My son said he had never seen that particular "grin" before and didn't know where his son got it from until he saw a pic of me when I was little.

This sounds very similar to the diposable sharpening pads made from sand paper that Cliff suggest. The scotch brite pad might become a very versitile piece of equipment.

- Sharpening
- Cleaning/Scrubbing
- Polishing

I always pushed scrub pads away from the sharp edge to prevent cutting myself. Now there is another advantage to this.

Thanks Will.
I hadn't thought of taking one along myself, but that is a good idea. They are light and like you said good for several things.

Most of the different kinds of trees around here wouldn't bother food preperation, but there are about three I wouldn't want to use for that unless I cleaned the blade first.
Of course the biggest thing you might have to prepare is a "Swamp Rabbit"
and I haven't seen to many of those in recent years.

I believe they are a kind of hare. They look much like a cottntail except they get very big, about 4 to 7 Lbs.They inhabit the lower river bottoms and boggy areas, hence thier name.

Yvsa, ever see one of those old postcards with the picture of the Texas jackrabbit on it. I'll bet Berk's got a couple stashed somewhere.

Yep. I have seen both the Texas Jackrabbit and the Jackalope.
I could even say I have had conversations with them, but who would believe that?

I was gonna say I was always too young to drink in Texas, but I was stationed at Ft.Hood for a while.

Maybe it was there I had a chat with them."Seems that there was an Armadillo there too.
I think the Armadillo had a crush on the big tank extractor.

Speaking of Armadillos and the things we talk about in this forum.
Did y'all know that's the only other animal besides man that contracts Leprosy?
Yep. There was a man that contracted Leprosy from huntin them little Texas Turkeys.
The Drs. and such used the Armadillo to find the cures for this dreaded disease.Pretty amazing hunh?

I had the chance to eat a piece of one when I was young.
Tasted kind of like Chicken.

Actually it was prett good the best I remember. It was a mild and sorta greasy kind of meat like chicken or pork. I stay clear of them because of the Leprosy thing though. I gotta 'nuf problems without inviting any.

Funny stuff, Yvsa.

I remember traveling the old Route 66 from Joplin to LA. Every gas stop along the way always had a rack full of those postcards and always there was the Texas Jackrabbit or jackaloupe.

Thanks, Berk. Brought back a lot of memories.
