Scotch Brite belt on surface grinder?

Has anyone tried a scotch brite belt on their surface grinder belt conversion and if so how were the results? I’m trying to get a decent finish on some flat brass stock.

I have surface grinder attachment, Ameribrade. I have used scotchbrite towards the end. I always like the matte finish from scotchbrites. The problem with SGA is rounding of any edges. I seem to have best luck with the tractor tread type of surface conditioning belts, Trizacts I think. When I use things like cork, scotchbrite, even Jweight belts the rounding over is more noticeable.

I'm doing slipjoints so any divergence from sharp/square/flat is an annoyance. I don't know how much it is impacting my making though.

I've tried a scotch bright belt on the SGA. It was hardened steel, but I didn't like how it looks. Don't remember the details of the finish, but my response was: "I'm not doing that again."

Like ashwinearl ashwinearl said, with any decent amount of pressure it's gonna round things.

I haven't tried it on something soft like brass (that's pretty tricky on an SGA anyway).

I should add that a scotch-bright wheel on an angle grinder does make a pretty nice finish - IMHO.

I have not done any brass to date; Yet, will do a few in this next batch,

I am thinking that hand polishing is the way.

I buy diamond grits and bees wax. That polishes things up nicely.
