Im sure this has been posted before but I figured id show my newly acquired Star-Tac with a scotchbrite finish.I was hesitant at first to do this not knowing how difficult it may be but seriously took all of 15 min and anyone can do it.I really prefer this finish ccompared to the factory sandblast finish...to me it kinda gives it a antique nostalgic look that just looks good on Sebenzas/Zaans.

Its been said its hard to capture the true look of the scotchbrite finish but I took a few pics in different lighting to try to capture its affect. This is my edc knife and im really enjoying the umnumzaan/star-tac.

+1 nice. I want to do this now. But I dont know about the resell value if i ever wanted to in the future

Looks fabulous. Nice job. Call me crazy but the original pivot adds so much style it is a shame they switched to the Ti-Lock one even if it makes disassembling a bit easier.

Very nice blade.

I dig it as well:thumbup: If I ever gather the balls to do a SB treatment to one of my CRK's it will be my Umnum for sure.

About to do this. Any tips i should know before starting?

Alude. .I put the scotchbrite down on a flat surface that wont slide and just go back n forth about 20-30 times....its really that easy.....I also did the sides of the scales and did the pivot and screws with a circular motion....it probaly took all of 5 min per side..its really that simple.

I think your really going to like the results :)

Ohh also take the clip off and do it seperately.

Okay thanks. Ill post pics when I'm done. Going to take me a while since I'm at work.

Alright I'm finished. Big thanks to kdawg for this idea. It turned out great and i love it even more than before. Here are some pics. The only problem i had was that i stripped out the pocket clip screw. Ill just order another one later.

Looks great Alude,,,,the pics with the different finishings on the scale you can really tell the difference.Nice work i enjoy mine even more finished like this as well.

I really want to use it but I'm trying not to so that i can let the loctite dry

Here's what mine look like. I basically freehanded them. Tried to make them look a little worn, not a consistent pattern like kdawg or allude. I think the next time i take them down, i will lay them flat on a table and use some real smooth sandpaper.
