Enlighten me. I am new as you know and I came on the scene and bought a few Sebbies and have been learning a lot from this forum and a great guy Gary Graley. I see that this guy Scott Cook (ex-employee of CRK) makes a one piece titanium folder called the Lochsa Folder. Was this design in the works when he was with CRK and he left and made it first? I know it is different than a Sebenza but is there some sort of copyright or trademark laws being infringed on (not a lawyer, just curious)? Does anyone own one or plan on getting one? Just wanted to learn a bit more about this knife and guy since I have love the Sebenza and this looks like a very similar competitor. Thanks!

I'll try to answer what I know. . .

Was this design in the works when he was with CRK and he left and made it first?

Couldn't tell ya.

I know it is different than a Sebenza but is there some sort of copyright or trademark laws being infringed on (not a lawyer, just curious)?

If there were infringement. . .Mr. Cook wouldn't be making the knife. But, since the Lochsa and the Sezbenza are completely different knives. . .no infringement.

And they are completely different knives. I've got a Lochsa and Sebenza setting in front of me as I type this.

In comparison, the only thing that I can see similar. . .they both possess a drop point style feature and both are hollow grinds. The degree of drop on the point is different as is the depth of the hollow grinds.

Oh. . .and they both have thumbstuds.

As far as the scales. . .yeah, both are made of titanium. The Sebenza is a 2 slab frame-lock. The Lochsa is of one-piece construction (milled out of a single piece of titanium) and is the first one-piece handled frame lock folder.

They even feel different in the hand.

Again, no infringement is the knives are different.

Does anyone own one or plan on getting one?

I have a numbered Lochsa. And it's awesome !

Both are exceptional knives. . .one high-end production knife and one custom knife ! Personally, possessing a Sebenza helps complete a portion of the knife knut cicle. Possessing a Lochsa even further closes the loop.

Get one. . .you won't be sorry ! :D

Picture Homer Simpson... tongue lolling out, dribble hitting the floor and that ever so cool aaaaalllllaagggggghhhhhh sound!

Well thats me!

Now to really improve it, the thumbstud needs a re-think asthetically and the hex head of the pivot screw just does not seem...right? For the knife. Its a great looking knife, but I still prefer my Sebi at the moment! (Read I can't afford many knives at the moment and I have my heart set on a Damasteel raindrop replacement blade for my Numbered large classic.)

On a different note, Giga, what does the Avatar signify?

Thanks!:) :D

The avitar is a reduced piece/shot of a custom paint job that I designed for a motorscooter that a friend of mine built.
