I ordered my Lochsa Feb 2006, Scott contacted me, in case you are wondering what the email looks like I cut and paste it in below.
***************
It has been some time since your order, but your name is coming up on my list for a S90V Lochsa. I have you down for the following:
S90V Lochsa Blade
Clip option of Tip Up
& a double thumb lug
It has been sometime and I understand everyone’s interest change, or the timing does not work for this size purchase. If you are no longer interested in the Lochsa, quite alright, and I’ll just move down my list of names. No questions asked. If the timing is wrong and you would like to just be bumped down the list a bit, let me know and something can always be worked out.
If interested, I’ll be finishing up a S90V Lochsa shortly.
Looking forward to hearing from you.
Best Regards,
Scott Cook
SCK

Correspondence with Scott was great after he contacted me. I debated whether I wanted to add some options, so I asked him what options were available, he responded immediately. See below:

*****************
One option available at this point is handle finish. I can polish the face and back of the handle to about a 1200 grit finish, leaving the chamfers and top/back blasted. It makes the folder somewhat fancy, but light use shows a little sooner on the folder. The sandblasted face/back with satin chamfers wears well and keeps it looks longer. I’m actually right at this stage with the handle and can go either way.
****************************
I then asked him about the 14k gold double thumb lugs and asked him his opinion and he responded immediately:
******************************
I do like the looks of the double lugs in gold. They’ve been spring tempered and wear very well. The only downside is that gold is up there in price these days. Each thumb lug in gold runs $75, $150 for the double thumb lug.
******************************
I ended up passing on both and went with my original order, since I thought long and hard almost 5 years ago about my order I went with the S90V, tip up carry and double Thumb lugs
I highly recommend double thumbs, the Lochsa is so easy to flick and very easy with the left as well as the right. In fact, it can be operated very easily with one hand left or right. Flick open with left, close with left, flip open with right, close with right. I also asked him about lubrication and he responded immediately:
**********************
I’m not familiar with “break free” but most thin gun lubes will work fine. I actually use a mixture of Teflon powder and a thin bicycle chain lube. The chain lube serves as a way for the powder Teflon to be applied and is very thin. Treat the knife like a fine firearm, cleaning pocket lint and blade every so often. Lube when in doubt, and disassemble/clean every so often.

Be super clean if re-assembling.
**********************************
Scott is great to deal with, he answered all my questions and shipped with 3 or 4 days. So once he contacted me, I had my knife within a week. Also, once he contact you, you are his customer, he answers all your questions, gives you options and lets you know when he will ship. All and all a great experience. I included some pics below, but there are way better pics on this forum. I mainly included them, because I really like the double thumb lug and wanted to provide my recommendation that it is worth the extra cost.

Congrats on your Lochsa cap!

I could never wait 5 years for a knife,or anything for that matter.:o

This isn't the place for a discussion of custom vs. production, though I agree wholeheartedly with Mr. Bybee.

To the OP: congratulations on getting your Lochsa. I hope Mr. Cook opens up his order book soon.

Josh, Lochsa is a custom knife. If you do not agree/have opinion, pls start a new thread. Dont spoil this thread.

I apologize to the OP for my derail.

Congratulations for getting a Lochsa. It is one of my favorite knives. I'm sure you will enjoy it.

I would say you have an interesting definition of "Production Knives" that the majority of custom knife collectors and knifemakers do not agree with.
Chuck, you got THAT right!!!
Congrats on the Locsha!! You have great taste.

Awesome, getting an S90V Lochsa for $694. Those easily go for double that price on the aftermarket. Enjoy it, bro.:thumbup::thumbup:

Great score on an awesome knife!! I think Scott recently opened the order list on them but is already closed.

Anyone get on the List?

Knife looks great. Could you post more photos so we can share in the enjoyment of your new knife.

Great to hear - I have just had the infamous e mail 'you're next, time to confirm spec and pay'. So this thread is ideal re spec. I think tip up carry clip (on basis that I can always remove it if necessary years from now), S90v because I'll only ever buy a Lochsa once, standard finish. 2 items I can't decide on:

1. Swedge or not. Am thinking not. BTW, is the top edge gently rounded like a Sebenza?

2. Dual studs or not?

Thoughts guys?
Thanks.

the spine of the blade is rounded very nicely, and I'd definitely go with dual studs. I don't have any idea about the swedge, I've never had one with one. I'd be interested in some high-res pics of the swedge, I haven't really seen one. I also think the Sebenza is now being offered with a swedge too.

Sounds like you're right on dual studs.

I should have mentioned steel - 30 or 90V? This knife is a keeper, a future heirloom, although I want to use it. I'm not rough on my knives.
