I just purchased a large (3½" blade -- he makes a smaller one too.) Owyhee hunting knife with S30V steel and Desert Ironwood handle from Scott Cook. I can't post pictures yet but there are several over on the "For Sale" threads on "Custom" and "Production -- Semi-Custom" threads. The pictures don't do the knife justice. It doesn't show the well executed thumb ridges on top of the blade! With S30V at Rc 60-61 it shouldn't need sharpening for a while -- and at the rate I've been successful at harvesting elk and deer here in Idaho, it may stay sharp forever! I'll let Scott price these knives to you but I saw him and a small display of his knives at the Boise Sportsman's Show last Saturday and the prices were very reasonable -- so I bought right away!

Scott used to be famous for the fact that he ground most of the CRK Sebenza blades but now is an established maker on his own. I'm more than pleased with the knife and price!

The name "Owyhee" is the name of a mountain range, river, and reservoir here in Southwest Idaho. It is the name left over from a group of actual Hawaiians who migrated to Idaho in the 1800's to raise sheep.

Bruce,

You are oh so right, with the quality of Scott Cook's knives. I have a small 154CM "Owyhee" with a dessert ironwood handle on order. The knife club that I belong to, B.A.K.C.A. is luck to have Mr. Cook's knife as this years custom made club knife.
