So I've recently found out about this wonderful creation of blade work, but as far as I can see it hasn't been available for order since before 2008, and my previous attempts to contact Scott have been met with silence. Does anyone know what happened to him and/or where I can get my hands on one of these beauties?

They are definitely grails for lots of folks. They show up on the for sale forums every so often and don't last very long. I see them go for around $850-$950+ depending on the materials. I personally think you're best bet is to watch the for sale forums.

Last one I saw went for $1,500 on ebay about two months ago. I understand he has stopped taking orders for the Lochsa as he is backlogged about 3 - 5 years on his current list of buyers. Your best bet is to post a "Wanted to Buy" ad for one and see who is willing to part with one, just be prepared to pay a king's ransom for it. If memory serves me correct, the original asking price straight from Scott Cooke was somewhere between $450 - $600. Expect to pay close to or more than double.

The secondary market is probably your best bet in terms of availibility. Shows might offer a lower than secondary-market price, but also probably much less availibility.

With the state of the economy right now, you might very well be able to coax one out of hiding with a WTB add.
