For years I have dreamed of owning Bo Randall's first knife. I know that there is no chance that I ever will but I know some craftsmen here that could possibly get close.
I talked to Scott Hanson and he agreed to make one. Scratch that, he made two. One for me and one for Sheldon Wickersham who has a pic of the original on the cover of his book.
I'm a lefty so Scott made mine for a lefty and Shel's a righty.
I think he absolutely knocked them out of the park.

"Knocked them out of the park", he knocked them into the stratosphere. Thanks for sharing, Mack.

Thanks, Mossy.
Scott really took this seriously. Worked off of every pic and every bit of info he could get. Knowing the fit and finish of his blades I knew he was the man for the job.

I scored my first Scott Hanson blade last year. His attention to detail is outstanding. These two just reiterate it. Heck of an heirloom.

Wow awesome! you must be well happy with those.

Please tell us a little more about the project.......steel choice etc......:)

First of all, I would like to thank everyone for the kind words. The steel used is AEB-L heated to HRc- 61-62 with Cryo I chose this steel simply because I've heard so many good things about it I just wanted to try it. Up until now my go to steel has been cpm154. I grind all my blades prior to heat treat and this seems to work a lot like cpm154. After heat treat it's a breeze to finish up it sharpens up easy and stays sharp, it can be stropped to a razor edge just like the carbon steels, I'm very impressed with this steel.

Scott answered while I was typing.
Thank you, Scott. You know a lot more than I do about this project.

Scott is the man to go to for this style - congrats to you! You couldn't have picked a nicer maker to work with too. :)

I have to agree. If you want a classic stag handled knife you want to talk to Scott.
With his fit and finish I don't think there's a style he can't master.
