I just got this Sawby a couple days ago after a lot of trading and selling knives and other things I finally was able to get another Sawby. I had to sell my custom knife collection years ago after a work injury and until now was not able to afford another Sawby, so I made up my mind I would do whatever I could to get another one and this is what I was able to get.

You sound like you had to settle for that one:D

IMO it looks great. I really like that blade shape.

Congrats - a great knife.

Maybe I worded my post wrong but this is the knife I was trying to get all long, and got very lucky the dealer would trade for the knife I had. The Combat/Utility models were the ones I had in the past but they were his other lock his Self lock this one is his Button lock, it functions like a back lock but the buttons pushes up the lock bar using a cam like action. It's very smooth and strong there is a very solid click when it's opened and strong but smooth tension to keep it closed. All the internal parts are high polished so it functions like liquid metal. The frame is integral 416 heat treated stainless steel and the scales are lighting strike carbon fiber with copper wire. The pocket clip is heat treated 440C, then is all mirror polished. This will be my carry knife from now on. Its sure nice having another Sawby to carry after 13 years of factory knives, but most of them were nice also just not in the same league.

Can you collate the self lock to his button lock? I have been drooling over one of these for a while.

That is a great looking knife. I really like it. Congrats,

Thanks.

Here is the patent on his self lock, it's basically a spring with a ball and notch that when open the spring pushes the ball into a notch and prevents the blade from closing until the tab under the blade tang is pushed up to close the knife.
http://www.google.com/patents?id=MT...#v=onepage&q=Us Patent number 4604803&f=false
The button lock is similar to a lock back except the button opens the lock bar using a cam like action, there is no patent number found on this lock that I know of. It's just a fancy way of opening a lock back but made with a lot tighter tolerances than most, it really sounds nice when engaged and when closing its a nice even pressure to keep it closed, the only thing is in the open position the button has no pressure on it so it moves slightly and can rattle a little if you shake the knife when its open.
I had both locks and if your left handed the self lock is totally ambidextrous and the one to go with, but I like the button lock better if feels stronger to me. I really engages with a loud solid click.

Sawby's are really well designed knives. I've salivated over several on custom dealer sites, but never pulled the trigger - yet :)

Sweet knife! This is the only one that I ever saw with a high polish. All of the ones I have seen and handled were bead blasted. Nice Score!

Great looking Sawby C/U, a little different with a Button Lock and fully polished.

Thanks, it was the first time I saw one like this also.

My guys is you're waiting to find one with a Damascus blade ha ha.
He makes them with Damascus also, they are sweet.

i'd like to see how the knife sits in your pocket with that type of clip, how about a pic?

I love his design and his work is immaculate.
You make some really nice knives also, your Uber has a similar design to this knife but in a frame lock. Very nice

That's a beautiful knife!

Thanks

Love it! I always wanted a combat-utility from him.
Its a great knife, if you ever get the chance to pick one up I think you would be very happy with it. I have had 5 of them over the years, people keep talking me into selling the ones I get or the doctors bills pile up but hopefully this one will stay with me for a long time.
